Abdominal pains (anus)
I sometimes have severe pains without warning from my anus, followed by sweating and dizziness, it feels as if you need to go to the toilet, however nothing wants pass. Relief is eventually found from passing wind, this only occurs when the pain, sweating and dizziness has passed normaly after about 5 minutes of agony. Something like a pressure cooker affect? Please help it is really scary, especially when the sweating and dizziness kicks in, you feel like you are losing control. Thanks.

Dear BM
I think you are getting anal spasms or proctalgia fugax.
DESCRIPTION: Abrupt, sharp or gripping-like pain in the anorectal area. The pain does not radiate. Often the pain wakes the individual in the night. Typically, relief occurs within seconds to minutes, although rare, the pain can be present for hours. The disorder is benign and there is no cure but there are ways of relieving the attacks. The pain may be relieved by warm baths, deep heat therapy and massage of the muscles supporting the rectum.
CAUSES: unknown; attributed to spasm of levator ani and coccygeal muscles, sometimes associated with stress or anxiety
Anti spasmodics and anti-anxiety medication may make a huge difference - talk to your GP.
