Child has dizziness and headaches
My 9 year old daughter has suffered headaches, dizziness and pains in her chest for about 2 months now. She has had a brain scan and x-rays as well as physiotherapy to her shoulder muscles which were tight. She does not have a middle ear infection. What avenues should we explore next? What kind of doctor should we see now? It is debilitating and she misses school quite often. Otherwise she has no other problems. Please advise! Thank you. Karen

Karen, the best would be to have her paediatrician make sure that there is no underlying metabolic problem like diabetes and make sure that she is in good general health. Then you observe her during the holidays to make sure that it isn’t related to something at school. In other words, if these problems keep her from playing and enjoying her holiday, you will have to keep on looking until you find out what the problem is. If she is fine for the holidays but the symptoms return as soon as she goes back to school, you will have to look for the cause elsewhere. Good luck.
