cravings
HI DOC, A FEMALE FRIEND OF MINE AGED 79 HAS DEVELOPED A CRAVING FOR ICE IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. SHE LOVES TO CHEW ICE NEARLY ALL DAY AND WE CANT WORK OUT WHY. HER HUSBAND OF 58 YEARS DIED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND ALL HER KIDS LIVE OVERSEAS, BUT THEY DO VISIT AS OFTEN AS THEY CAN AND I SEE HER OFTEN. HER HANDS SHAKE TOO NOW AND SHE IS OFTEN NAUSEOUS. CAN U SUGGEST WHY THIS IS HAPPENING TO HER, EPSECIALLY THE ICE CRAVING AND THE SHAKY HANDS, BOTH VERY RECENT THINGS. THANKS.
Dear JayGee
Sometimes people with iron shortage anemia get ice cravings - please let her doctor do a bloodtest to check. The shaking can be age related, due to stress or due to low bloodsugar.
