Deep Vein Thrombosis
I was diagnosed with DVT about 4 years ago. I am not on any medication. I would like to some information. Firstly is feeling tired most of the time a symptom with having DVT. Secondly regarding the clot, I dont suffer from any pain. The only reminder I have of having DVT is a little swelling and a feeling at times that I can only explain as pressurised or bruised. As if the blood flow is restricted and it's battling to flow. After all this time has the clot dissolved? Can the clot reappear? Although I got DVT while on the pill and smoking (which I stopped both immediately). Blood test indicate that I have the factor 5 gene, does this mean I could easily develop another clot?

Lee, I’ll answer the questions as you asked them.
1. No.
2. The clot might have damaged the vein and this may cause your symptoms.
3. You may have a higher chance of developing blood clots and that’s why it was important to go off the pill and stop smoking. You should be OK now, but be careful when you fly overseas and don’t sit with your legs crossed for too long.
Good luck.
