Hi Doc...I would like to know what are the causes of Dystonia and medications/course of action is usually recommended for someone who has been diagnosed with it. Also, how does one pick up this condition and what is the cure for it? Does it also affect young people in the 20-30 age group? Thanks-Jeff

Dear Jeff

Dystonia can be inherited, or caused by brain injuries, diseases like Parkinsons, strokes, toxins or growths in the brain.Depending on the cause - which they first have to find by excluding all the things I mentioned above, they may treat this with medication, inplantation of a device in the brain, botox injections or physiotherapy. There is no cure for this. It can affect even children and babies.
