Full Medical Checkup
Hi Doc,

Would like to know what exactly a full medical checkup entails - i.e. do they check " normal"  things like blood pressure, heart rate, etc, or is it slightly more intense than just the basics?

Hi Dommie
Clever question! It entails a full physical (hands on) examination of the heart, lungs, (with stethoscope) liver, abdominal (feeling, listening), muscular and neurological (some testing like balance, kneejerk and sensitivity) systems including BP test, urine test, pulse and temperature. It may include gyne or prostate examination. After the physical examination the doctor will determine which if any blood tests needs to be done, as well as other special examinations like ECG, X/rays, scans, gastroscopy etc.
It is NOT where the doctor sits on the other side of the table, listens to your complaints and then pushes a prescription over the table!
