Hi Doctor

Please can you tell me exactly what a heart murmer is. I was told I had one and I would just like to know how this effects me and are there any dangers envolved?

Thank you.

Jt, it is the sound the blood makes when it moves through a valve in the heart. It is often of no clinical significance, but it might be depending on the severity of the valve lesion. I can’t tell you how bad it is from this side of the screen, so the best would be to see a cardiologist and have it sorted out. Good luck.
