heartbeat
Discovered in May I have anemia(Blood HB 8 instead of 12-15)...34 yr vegetarian women who exercise regurlarly(4-5 cardio sessions p/week,running max.50mins/cycle up to 90mins).My heartbeat very noticeable at times(ie.starts racing when I get a sudden fright or bouncing away, can see chest move while after exercise).Been on iron treatment since(last bloodtest HB 11.4,serum-iron 6.7,serum-transferrin 2.8 and saturation 11%).Increasing my exercise program slowly and do not really feel any discomfort while exercising...but my hearbeat 30mins or so afterwards bothers me slightly....Should I get this checked out, just concerned that I might cause permanent damage to my heart...what are the odds?
Dear Lup-dup
Thank you for visiting health24.com.
Anemia is not a diagnosis but a symptom. It is very important to advise me about what kind of anemia you have, as plain iron supplementation will not resolve the problem. I recommend that you consult your GP, to establish the reason for your anemia.
Kind regards
Dr Anrich Burger
