Help! Ringworm driving me nuts!
hi!
i have tried just about everything, currently on lamisil pills and using lamisil & a cortizone cream 3 X per day, but i keep getting new infections every other day!? what am i to do?? could my doctor have diagnosed me wrongly? is there any other type of infections that look similar to ring worm, and how can i get rid of it asap? :(

Dear Olivia z
There are quite a few skin conditions that can simulate ringworm.
Pityriasis rosea is characterized by small, fawn-colored lesions on the trunk in running in the same direction as the ribs on each side.
Granuloma annulare is characterized by nonscaly, round plaques with reddish borders, typically on the arms and legs.
Sarcoidosis can present as round, swollen plaques similar in appearance to the lesions of granuloma annulare. Hansen's disease can mimic ringworm by presenting as one or more round, sometimes scaly, plaques.
Urticaria have vague round plaques without scales and disappear quickly.
Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus can present in an annular(round) form on sun-exposed surfaces or look like pimples.
Erythema annulare centrifugum typically presents as round patches with trailing scale inside red borders.
bottom line - get a second opinion from a dermatologist!!
