High Blood Pressure and Colesterol

My husband is 59 yrs old. He has been on blood pressure meds for a long time, and takes it faithfully. He is also on colesterol meds, although he is down to 5. He does not smoke and is not overweight.

We also try and eat a low fat diet. He is also very active.
What are the side effects of these meds, and will their use and a healthy lifestyle be enough.

Dear Health Heart
He is doing everything he can to prevent heart disease! The side effects of the medication will depend on what he is using and will be on the package inserts that he gets with his tablets each month. Just remember that not all patients get ALL the side effects that they mention and that this is just what they found when testing the medicine in clinical trials - he may have a few or no side effects at all! One should also weigh up the positives of the medication against any possible negative side effects and decide which is more important.
