Low Blood Sugar
Hi, I have been feeling light headed for the last few days and went to a pharmacist two days ago who checked my blood sugar level which read 2.7 (I had just eaten a muffin and an hour and a half before that a bowl of fruit and yoghurt). My blood pressure was 110/80. The pharmacist suggested I increase my intake of carbohydrates in my diet. I have increased my carb.s (and consider that my diet is normally good and I am of average weight) and feel slightly better but not 100%. I just want to know if following a strict diet rich in carb.s is all I need to do or whether I should be examining anything else.
Thanks. Kate.
Thanks. Kate.
Kate, the best would be to go for a good physical and a glucose tolerance test and make sure that it is hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) and not something else. If you mail me at CyberDoc@mweb.co.za I’ll send you a copy of a hypoglycaemia diet. Good luck.
