mammo/ultrasound showed water in breast
Hi Doc,

Last year August I went for a mammogram. The doc suggested an ultrasound which showed water in my breast. What exactly does this mean? I am due for another mammogram this month. I am 46, have been on HRT for 8 years since I' ve had an oopherectomy. I have unbelievable fear to go for this mammogram. When I make an appointment, should I make an appointment for an ultrasound as well to be sure all is ok?

Also, my breasts are large which causes me a lot of lower back ache. At least I think this is why I get the lower back ache. I am a 40D and my height is 5' 6" . It causes me discomfort especially when I sleep. Can one discuss breast reduction with the doc? Thank you.

Thank you for visiting

When they referred to "water in your breast", it was most probably a cyst in your breast. This is a benign condition and you do not have to be concerned about it. When you make your appointment for the mammogram, make one for an ultrasound as well, to set your mind at ease.

I confirm that you can discuss breast reduction with your doctor. He will refer you to a surgeon and motivate why you should have a breast reduction done.

Kind regards
