Pancreatits - follow up question
How long does the pain and discomfort last? He was diagnosed 4 weeks ago and is still having constant pain and discomfort. Curently he takes no medication - lost 10kg and is still losing daily although eating well. What could the reason be for this weight loss? He was on Pethydene for 15 days as well as antibiotics whilst in hospital for 2 weeks.
JB, the problem with pancreatitis is that it may lead to chronic abdominal pain if the damage to the pancreas was severe.
The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes and if it is damaged, it might lead to malabsorption and result in weight loss. Hopefully he will recuperate completely and everything will return to normal. Good luck.
