i am 34 years old- try to fall pregnant- with dr in jhb at fitility clinci and told that prolactin are high. I am not using any medication at all why is my prlactin high? And will the level come down with treatment and will i fall pregnant. Will start with IVF soon as i have been for 3 insemination.

Marianne, I have no idea why your prolactin level is high, but common causes include:
1. Physiological: Pregnancy, breast-feeding, stress & sleep.
2. Drugs: Phenothiazines, haloperidol, รก-methyldopa, oestrogens, etc.
3. Disease: Pituitary disease, chronic renal failure, under-active thyroid and sarcoid.
If the increase prolactin is the cause of your infertility, you should fall pregnant if the prolactin level comes down. Good luck.
