Results on HIV testing
If one had unprotected sex. And just want to confirm if you have been infected with this decease. How long should you wait before you go for the test to get the most accurate results. According to the people at the lab that we visited, they say that it can take from 3 months to a year before it can be pick-up in your blood. Is this true and should I then ways a year before I go for testing... Please tell me as much as possible about this topic. Thank you

Results, it depends on how much money you’re willing to spend. A PCR is more expensive, but it is more than 90% sensitive after 5 days and will give a definite result after 14 days. A 4th generation ELISA test are less expensive, but will only be positive within 3-4 weeks and a follow up after 3-6 months will give a definite result. Good luck.
