staphyloccus aureus

I recently had a breakout of boils, which are all healed (on my vagina) The GP recommended a nose swab and once the results came back said I was carrying staphyloccus aureus. I had to use bactroban nasal ointment twice a day for 2 weeks.
I am generally a healthy person and had never had a boil before. I did however have a bikini wax just before my period and within a few days the first boil appeared. What I would like to know is how does one get staphyloccus, could it have been from the waxing ?

Thanking you

Trish, staphylococci are often present on the skin of healthy people and are nothing to worry about if they don’t cause disease because their numbers are usually kept in check by the other “goggas” present on your skin. The waxing might have weakened your skin’s defence barrier and given the staphs the chance to cause infection. Let me know as a new question if you have more questions. Good luck.
