Dear doc

i have a huge stumbling block in my life, when ever i get nervous or need to shake peolpes hands my hands sweat. It has gotten to the stage where i no longer want to meet people for fear of embarrassment. of course people just think i'm rude when i avoid them and i've built quite a reputation for myself because of this. As i said its a huge stumbling block for me, my armpits also sweat but not as serverely and i'm not self-conscious because its usuallly not easily noticible...

what is the cure, nned something permanent...

this was posted by some guy on the teen expert link is it possible to do any of this

"Don't worry u ain't alone- overractive sweat glands- it is quite a common problem... I consulted my dermatologist and he said that there are several options 1.) If the special roll on containing aluminium chloride fails you 2.) There is a short-term treatment - every 6 to 8 weeks where the affected area (hands, feet, etc) is placed on a pad and a current is sent through you. 3.) Botox injections (quite pricey) 4.) Operation whereby the sweat duct is blocked off."

Hallo Zac
Yes all of these options are available - ask your GP to refer you to the appropriate specialist. There are also tablets available that helps ( Probanthine)
