You will be asked to cough up some sputum from the lungs into a sterile cup.
The Sputum is then examined by staining it to see the TB bacilli under the microscope. Then the sample is put into a growth medium and cultured for a few weeks - this tells us for which anti tb medication the germ will be sensitive to.
