Tonsils - Is it necessary to have it removed?
I had a severe case of the flu on Friday and went to my GP for a jab, he told me that my tonsils were very inflamed and had developed small white like pimples/pustules on the right side. Is this normal? Must I have my tonsils removed or is it ok to carry on the way it is. My flu has almost gone and so has the white like stuff on my tonsils, please advise whether i should have my tonsils removed. By the way, what is the purpose of the tonsils? Please reply

Bob, the white stuff is probably just pus. You don’t have to have your tonsils removed unless you have tonsillitis more than three times a year.
The tonsils are part of your immune system just like your lymph nodes. Just like removing two lymph nodes won’t do much harm, removing the tonsils won’t do much harm either. That said, if they don’t cause trouble, there is no reason to remove them. Good luck.
