Underactive pancrease

Yesterday a homeopathic doctor diagnosed that my pancreas was way too underactive. What could cause this and waht will teh repurcussions be if it is not "fixed"?

Macy, I would like to know how he made the diagnosis, but it might be due to damage due to infections and chemicals like alcohol. It might lead to diabetes and malabsorption. Good luck.
PS. Before you do anything drastic have the diagnosis confirmed by a specialist physician.
