Very itching skin all over
I was diagnosed with a slightly underactive thyroid and was put on 0.05mg eltroxin last October.
I had itchy skin before I went on but not this bad.
I have now started itching so badly I am going out of my mind.
There are no bumps or rashes or dead skin, just itchy clear skin.
Is it the thyroid not working, heat (Cape Town is very hot lately), stress
or could I be allergic to something.

Please get back to me.

Tammy, it’s difficult to say without examining you first, but it does sound like an allergy. The best would be to try an antihistamine like Phenergan® and see if it helps. It will only work for an allergy so it will be the diagnosis and treatment in one. If it doesn’t clear up or it comes back, the best would be to see your doctor. Good luck.
