Hi Doc

Not sure if this is in your line of work. The problem is that my husband (26) is a very hyperactive person. It seems like it is getting worse. He can't fall asleep at night because of this and in the morning stand up about 2 hours before he is supposed to.

He also keeps busy with small things in the garage and around the house from very early in the morning untill very late just to keep himself busy. He feels very fustrated most of the time and be aggressive (throw tantrems) at times.

What can I do to help him? Is there any medication he can take to "calm him down"? Is this a medical or psycological problem?

What type of docter will be able to help him?

Only a doctor who can see him and examine him at some length, can actually answer your question --- and thus, unless your husband agrees that thee is something wrong, rather than that this is just the way he is and always has been, he's not likely to see such a doctor. As to wich type of doctor, that, too, is hard to tell. COuld be a general physician ( medical specialist ) or a psychiatrist, as there could be causes in either area which could create the type of symptoms you are describing. For instance, if someone has developed an over-active thyroid, they can get agitated and over-hyped, and this responds excellently to proper treatment for the thyroid. Maybe a psychiatrist is the best bet, as, being also medically qualified, he /she can at least take into accound possible physical causes, better than a psychologist would.
