addiction and recovery message of hope
Multiple times i have written to you under several aliasies.
I was the medic who abused pethidine, benzos , immovanes etc etc.
My last entry in march 5th this year was a hopeless one and four days later my world came crashing down with a massive relapse at work !!! A day later I overdosed and was flown to a treatment fascility in Cape Town.
This is a message of hope to all those addicts out there.
I have my life back now and a steady job in the same profession.
I feel optimistic about the future and look forward to living a productive and clean life following the NA program.
This disease kills not only lives but relationships, livelihood and spirit. I always thought that it took four years for this illness to bring me to my knees only to realize now that I have been on my knees for much longer.
Whoever is reading this who may suspect he/she has a drug problem - don't wait look for help now.You will find your family, friends and bosses extremely supportive and this comes from experience.
Your illness will end in one of three ways if you let it run its course
JAILS, INSTITUTIONS and DEATH !!!!

Thanks for the follow-up and the good news. Congratulations on finally following good advice, getting into a good program, and putting your effort towards the right aims --- and achieving the good result you deserve. As you say, getting into drugs, whatever excuses one at first thinks might justify it, is a losing course of action, inevitably heading for disaster. And it's not only that ONEe of the three ways you mention may be the end, but even all three. You're so well rid of it. Well done.
