aggressive teen
Hi
I have a 13yr old son who is normally very obediant and non aggressive. The past 2 days have been terrible. He is rude, unco-operative and just disrespectful. This morning we both lost our temper and I unfortunately didn' t control my temper as I should. I' ve been hurting so much today because my son and i have always been close. If i reprimand him he would normally apologise and we would discuss ways of improving things. Now he back chats and is suddenly rude and it really hurts.
I' m worried that this is permanent and taht I' ve lost my close relationship with him. I am so anxious i don' t even want to go home.....
I love him so much but don' t knwo how to handle this new personality that has erupted. he says nothing is bothering him and we had such fun last night, then this morning he is rude again.

Pls advise as I' ve already done damage by handling this incorrectly, don' t want to worsen it. He has 2 younger sisters and they saw everything this morning, they were quite upset.

Speak with him calmly tonight, saying you're not sure why you became so angry so easily, and apologise for over-reacting --- and then ask him, pleasantly, after praising him for how peaceful and pleasant he usually is, why he, too was so irascible this morning. I doubt that you've done any damage at all --- you probably feel so bad because you're a more peaceable mom with a more peaceable lad, than most, so you're not used to such dramas.
