Always sad.
I have everything one could wish for in life. All the material things to have a comfortable life. I have two grown up daughters, whom I am very proud of. And a husband who cares for me. Yet I am never really happy.

I find life a strain, work, household and husband. I just feel I cannot cope with it all. I have no other family members to share my burdens with. I feel sad alone and useless.

What can I do to make myself feel better about life? I always think I should not be complaining!!!

Dear Joanne,
I think in your response to Tal, you've described the most probable causes for your feeling sad despite a situation in which this might seem inappropiate. And I think lady nina, as usual, makes a wise and pereptive point, that it is not the natural state of humans to be steadily Happy --- content, yes, perhaps ; generally satisfied, with a variance of mood including sad times and happy times. A major cause of chronic unhappiness is that we to often continue to allow outselves to feel bad about mistakes we may have made, or even about events we didn't cause, without allowing the past to become the Past ; and that we allow ourselves to feel overwhelmed at all that needs to be done oto improve the situation, as if it was one single gigantic task that had to be done all at once, rather than a serious of smaller and more manageable tasks we can work our ways through. And you make the excellent point, yourself, that it is necessary to have goals for the future, or there is nothing to aim towards.
