Been vegetating
Hi Dr Shrinky

So glad to see you’re still around!!!!

I need your help, again! My son’s psychiatrist has recommended I see a professional, as well. She has done a referral letter for the impending psychiatrist.
Well, I had a “sneak preview”, and since I only managed to secure an appointment for January-there are two terms which I was wondering about: they are “vegetative features” and “suicidal ideation”. Not sure of the spelling, you know what they say about doctors?! She also gave me a sample box of Cipramil.I am not sure if it’s the tabs, but I have been feeling really down for the last couple of days.In fact, I have been hibernating (really!dark room and all,not wanting to speak to anyone), since Saturday.
Btw, my son went to visit his gran on Saturday, for a couple of days over the Christmas season, and we forgot to enclose his meds(his on Cipramil and Epilim).I called him today and asked him how his was feeling and he told me he felt different, but bad different. So I will have to get out of the dark room to take his meds tomorrow.I don’t even want to drive, sleep or eat.It is almost as if I am happy that my son went to visit his gran , in order for me to feel, what I’m feeling, I always have to be there for him.I am such a mess.I am supposed to buy Xmas gifts, but I am not in the mood!

To all my friends that are out there, I am sorry for not returning your sms’, but I am OK, just needed some time out….

Anyway, if I don’t speak to anybody again, including you CS, Merry Xmas and all the rest.

Well, J, I'm fairly glad to see that I'm still around, too.
There's no truth in the rumour that doctors get special lessons in writing badly --- the 7 years of taking notes at so many lectures, probably sees to that.
Stop hibernating. The cipramil might help to cheer you up, it shouldn't make you any the more miserable. You may be managing that all on your own. It sounds like the doctor thought you were suffering from Depression, and "vegetative features" are an older term for some of the symptoms of depression, some of which you describe.
"ideation" refers to thoughts.
Don't wait until you are "in the mood" to do constructive and useful things that need to be done, or it could be a long wait --- just do them, and doing them will help to improve your mood. Get out from under that Dark Clooud, instead of sitting there knitting new clouds. It's important for your son to remain on his meds.
