What is bipolar, in brief pls the symptoms, outcome and prognosis, is it hereditary, can it be treated, are these bipolar people dangerous at all?

Check elsewhere, search this site, and you'll find descriptions of the basics of bipolar disorder ( also, you could check the archives of this forum, as we've discussed it so often). It can be successfully treated, and they're no more dangerous than the rest of us, and a lot less dangerous than some others !
Nadine, your gran probably had Bipolar which in those days was calleed Manic Depressive illness, and Lithium was a pretty good treatment.
