does a dominating mother result in shy children
I want to know if a dominating and overbearing mother causes children to be shy and have low self esteem as my mother has and still is overbearing and pushy even though I am in my 30's. I often come across as being shy even though I get on really well with people after I know them and have some good friends. I want to know why I am shy. Is it because of my mother? She still treats me like a child to this day even though I have a child.

Not necessarily. Obviously it can be so, but not necessarily so. ( as is shown by one of your brothers being confident ). Your shyness could be greatly helped by CBT-style counselling, and this could also set you free from any limiting influences related to how your mother treated and still treats you
