excessive dreaming
All my life I have had to cope with dreams from the ordinary to the horrible. The past year it has become more realistic and bordering on the obscene, so much so that I wake up having to calm myself .
I get up feeling as tired and emotionaly drained. At times these are so vivid that upon waking, I am not immediately aware that it was a dream.I am a female of 43, mother of 2 daughters and married for 22 years.Although my life up to now has not been totally normal and calm, I have always been able to cope well in the worst of situations. I just cannot face these dreams any longer. How do I get to the bottom of this?

Actually, most dreams, even rather dramatic and wearying ones like you mention, are not sinister in themselves. They may indicate that you are bothered by various things in your life. such dreams can also be encouraged by a range of medications, from psych meds through antibiotics. Clearly, though, these are bothering you, and it'd be a good idea to see at least your GP, maybe a psychiatrist or psychologist recommended by him, for a proper assessment, and advice based on what is or isn't found in the assessment.
