EXTREME frustration

im in a prickly situation here .. apart from garth !!

This is about me.

im 42 and we live in a small town , we also live on a fairly remote farm .. now we desperatly want to live in town , but housing here is horrific . (farms are very unsafe)

1. so thats problem no 1- not enough pennies

im very frustrated and bored at work and work is extremly scarce here .. especialy the type of job im trained for which is senior bookeeping etc ... in fact i love working and am prepared to do anything for a few pennies

problem 2 - frustration

so i took my two problems , and knowing the type of person i am , i need a challenge , data capture is simply doing nothing for my fertile brain.. I decide to study , im very interested in fraud and forensics and all that type of thing

now im back to problem 1 .. not enough money

I phone head office .. my boss in JHB is overworked , I say I need more pennies u need help , im sure even at a distance we can sort something out .... i havent received an answer yet !!!

I phone head office .... yes she will pay out my leave pay so i can pay for my studies still waiting !!!

I seem to be in a vicious circle here .. all the guys at work are being sent on courses to improve themselves including my husband which means im going to be sitting alone on the farm getting very fed up here , and going bananas ..i want to do something with myself , im intelligent , and my brain , never mind my feeling of self worth is vanishing fast.

what on earth do i do ... and im becoming very negative towards my job

Dear Carol,
Sometimes one has to match one's expectations to the practical realities, and farm life was never likely to be highly intellectually stimulating with loads of job opportunities. As lady Nina says, isn't there some value in using the relative peace to rest and recuperate from the family sturm und drang ? I wonder whether perhaps some of the over-investment in your son's problems was related to the personal boredom and frustration ?
There are still many reasons to have a strong sense of self--worth, with all you've coped with and achieved so far. It would be nice if the job would provide more efficiently for you to take part in courses and further training ; maybe they're snowed under with different problems, and don't recognize how urgently you want resolution of this request. Meanwhile, check online where there s loads of material in every conceivable topic area, which you could use as a basis for further study in advance of whatever formal courses you eventually choose. And if your husband is going off on courses, can't he share some of the course-work with you, so you can share at least some of those educational opportunities with him ?
