Fluoxetine & Trepeline
Well today is my 7th day on fluoxetine. For the last 2 days I have been feeling very down, yesterday I felt exhausted. Today I feel a bit better. Also CS, apart from fluoxetine, I take 20mg Trepeline at night and I sleep like a baby. In general I feel I am coping and I have absolutely no side effects apart from feeling lethargic - is it okay to take the Trepeline as well as fluoxetine? I think there could be light at the end of the tunnel after all. Please give me your opinion. Thanks.
hello JSS,
Well, I wouldn't hgenerally think it necessary to combine Trepiline with an SSRI like Fluoxetine, but the combination seems to be suiting you, and there is some sense in it, and they shouldn't clash. It's just a bit like putting sugar and candarel in your coffee. Trepiline, an older antidepressant, tends to be much more sedative, and would be likely to help you sleep. That probably is genuine light you've noticed in the tunnel, and sunshine approaching. Stick to it. 2 to 4 weeks for noticable benefits is quite normal. The alarmist websites are egnerally fostered by folks who want you to turn to their quack therapies instead. Keep up your good work. And if the progress slows a little, or the road dips temporarily, don't be alarmed by press ahead. It's worth it.
