Generalised Anxiety Disorder
I have been diagnosed as having Generalised Anxiety disorder,by three different Doctors, and symptoms would include anxiety attacks, which are not consistent,Panic attacks, feelings of restlessness,Headaches, mild depression from time to time ,worrying about interpersonal relationships at work, excessive fear of an authority figure in the workplace, slight social phobia, lack of concentration, and general poor confidence, and the poor confidence manifests itself by me allowing myself to be psycholigally bullied at work, and in other situations.
I have been prescibed Aropax 20 MG per day,but I am fearfull that this medication could ,by introducing an unnatural chemical into the system, aggravate the problem especially in the long term, and hence have been taking only half a tablet ie 10 mg daily.
What treatment ,or course of action,do you suggest?

Dear Anxious,
Firstly, drugs like Aropax are no more "unnatural" than any of the so-called "natural" remedies that are irresponsibly touted in adverts in SA since the health authorities stopped bothering about accuracy in health product advertising --- and it is greatly safer than any of them, because unlike any of them, it has been comprehensively tested for efectiveness and safety. And taking ANY medication at a gose lower than that recommended by the doctor who precsribed it, usually means that it will be unable to work properly, as a sufficient amount of it within our system is required for it to work properly.
It soulds as if you would really benefit, though, from adding counselling from a psychologist, to the medication. Counselling is entirely "natural", and can help specifically to address some of the areas of anxiety that have been preoccupying you.
