get red blotches when I feel nervous
I really need help! I never used to feel shy or embarresed until one day I got really angry with someone and was very upset. From that day on, every time I get into a situation where I feel upset, angry, shy, nervous ... I get these big red blotches over my neck and chest area and I break out into a sweat. Its so embarresing, especially when Im at a social event, Im too scared to speak up in case everyone looks at me and Im full of blotches. Its impossible to cover up and takes at least 1/2 an hour to fade away, after Im calmed down. Please tell me what I should do.

Hello shy girl,
You may be surprised at how many people have similar reations to yours. Its like an exaggerated version of blushing. Some people find it charming, and by no means everyone would either notice or think any the worse of you. Its part of common reactions to being angry / embarrassed / aroused --- and anxious. Maybe blushing or blotching of the skin, sweatiness, a bit trembly or shaky, and so on. We vary in the extent of these reactions ; some people never manage t flush, others have more talented skin, and produce patches of redness which take a time to fade. I psychologist could help a lot with counselling, to help you build more self-confidence, become less sensitive to the situations in which you get flushed, and manage such social situations comfortably and enjoyably. It shouldn't take long. And the effort would be well worth it
