Hate my wife but love my baby.
I can not stand to be with my wife any longer. She is chronically unhappy as I suspect she is suffering from depression for the last 4 years. She refuses to get help. Every now and again we have a BIG fight and then she is fine for a few days. We never talk anymore and I have no love for her left inside me. The problem I have is that we have a 15 month old baby girl which I love very much and can not imagine leaving my baby. What do I do???

ear Jason, Yes, a sad situation, and a frustrating one. Is your wife absolutely adamantly opposed to making any real attempt to get help to relieve her chronic sadness ? Sometimes, a prominent part of a chronic Depression is giving up, feeling hopeless, losing initiative, and feeling convinced that there's no point in seeking help because nothing could possibly help. hat's not actually the situation in any case, but it can convincingly feel like it.
As our other contributors say, it's essential to talk this through with her, and emphasize exactly the points that Soul outlines so clearly and usefully. I agree with Soul's line on this situation. Also, what does her family think about this ? Don't they recognize how she's got stuck in this miserable state, and couldn't they help to persuade her to meaningfully seek proper help ?
