I was diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder (which manifests itself in panic attacks) 5 years ago. Since then I've been drinking Effexor XR 75mg every day.

Is there any substances/food I should avoid ingesting while I am on Effexor and why?

Would maybe like to go off the meds in the not too distant future, how do I go about this? If I have skipped a day on Effexor I feel terrible - dizzy with 'goosbumps in my brain'.

Thank you.

Hello Marie.
Hmm, my first thought is -- if you've been taking Efexor for five years, you've probably already combined it with most other substances and food that are part of your life, without problems. There are no notable food interactions with this drug, so far as I know. After being on it for so long, it'd be wise before stopping it to revisit the prescribing shrink or doc, and get specific advice, tailored to you personally, about planning to come off it cautiously and smoothly. Your phrase of "goosebumps in the brain" is a brilliant description of the uneasy sensation that might arise !
