Panic attacks
I now and then suffer from panic attacks. Is there anything natural I can take for this that will not interfere with my everday life. I am married to a wondefull man and have two sons and sometimes I feel guilty because I cant enjoy doing things with them because just knowing we are going to do something or go somewhere as a family I have an attack and there are days when I feel great. I sometimes even get them a few times in the day and then I will go for days without any. I have spoken to my doctor and he put me on trepliline 10mg for a short while for relaxation purposes, it did help but I have read and heard things about it. I am 34 years old and would love to start enjoying my life with my family. Please can you help me.
Dear Lisa,
Well first of all, don't let yourself feel guilty about it --- you didn't choose to have panic attacks. There is no known "natural" product which has been shown to be of any value in treating panic attacks. There are two good ways to limit or stop panic attacks, and combining them may give even better results. Trepilene might help, but the SSRI family of antidepressants probably helps more, and can be most useful. Also, some psychological treatments can help one to identify triggers and to control the symtoms as they begin to rise, and before they've become overwhelming. Maybe you'd find the latter approach, from a good psychologist, more "natural".
You certainly can get back in control of these crescendo's of anxiety, and become free again to enjoy your family life.
