severe anxiety
Hi Doc
I am desperatly looking for a cure for severe anxiety, but I want to try avoid taking medication. Is there another alternative?
Please help me I am getting to the stage where I would rather be dead than have to get up in the mornings.

Well, about equally effective would be CBT (Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy ), a counselling method with good research backing ; and there are even some handy self-help books on these lines ( but stick to those specifically mentioning Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy ). Don't be too rigid about avoiding medication. Personally, I don't like puting people on the sedative benzodiazepines ( the valium family of drugs ) ; but there is Buspirone, now aailable in the equivalent but cheaper generic form, which is not habit-forming and much more gente and gradual in onset.
