The fight against depression & OCD
I have been suffering of severe depression for 8 years now. I have been on anti-depressants ect. I have now though chosen to try and work on longterm results, and fix it the natural way. I have also discovered that I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I am extremely negative and obsess about negative things in my mind ALL THE TIME, where 99% they are not even real. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to cure both the above? Thank you

This is where CBT, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy comes in as it is excellent at changing mind-set's, when one's mind-set is unhelpful and unproductive. I am bust reviewing and sourcing some rather good self-help books on CBT in various problem areas, including Depression and OCD, and hope we can soon post the reviews on this site with links to enable one to buy them, probably through Kalahari. So watch this space for those developments. You're probably right that this obsessive dwelling on negative aspects of life, and just exactly this hitherto neglected element may have been what limited the success of your previous treatments for Depression. This is why I deplore the way so many psychiarists think their job is complete by just writing prescriptions, without combining the medications with psychotherapy / counselling
