Tired, stressed and crying
My parents were in a very serious car accident about 3 months ago. My Dad was killed on impact and my Mother sustained very serious injuries. I had to place my mom in a rehabilitation facility as she has lost control of her bodily functions and must learn to walk again after spending more than a month in hospital. I seemed to cope fine until about a month ago when I decided to rather start taking an antidepressant as I was crying most of the day. My problem is that I'm not feeling better, in fact I feel worse. I do not feel like getting up in the morning, I'm constantly tired, I cry a lot , have the most terrible headaches and I'm craving for sweets all the time. I feel guilty because some nights I do not feel like phoning my Mom 'cause it upsets me when she talks about my Dad. I do not have any suicidal thoughts but it feels as if everything is just getting to much now as I struggle to tie up all the loose ends.Sometimes I wish I can just fall asleep and only wake up when my Mom is healthy again and everything is back to normal.

Sorrt to hear about this, D ; this must have been a very horrible experience for all of you. I hope your mom is getting good care where she is. Its comnon and normal to react in this way after such awful things happen --- and to initially react strongly and capably when there are urgent decisions to be made, and then after a while to become emotionally exhausted. Seeing a good local counsellor should help, and a good local psychiatrist, too, for an assessment of your condition and to explore both whether antidepressants are likely to be helpful at this stage, and if so, whether you are on the one most likely to be helpful to you
