PROBLEM SHE IS OUT AND STAYING AT MOTHER-IN-LAW AND VERY AGGRESSIVE. HER 16 YEAR OLD SON IS NOW ALSO TAKING DAGGA. NO OTHER FAMILY IN P.E. TO TURN TO. WHO SHOULD BE HELPED 1ST. MOTHER-IN-LAW, DAUGHTER OR HER 16 YEAR OLD SON. DAUGHTER IS SO AGGRESSIVE THAT SHE PUSHED HER MOM AGAINST CUPBOARD YESTERDAY AND SHE HAS TO GO FOR XRAYS TODAY-RIBS KIDNEYS & BACK SORE. WHAT MUST WE DO? BELIEVE WE CAN HAVE HER COMMITTED, BUT WILL SHE LOOSE HER PENSION. THEY DESPERATELY NEED THE MONEY. IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION PLEASE E-MAIL ME. THANK YOU

Dear Sandy,
Sorry, but she sounds like (a) an idiot, and (b) a serious drug addict in need of really expert and serious treatment, or her life ahead will be steadily more chaotic, and probably short.
Treatment for her is hardly practical and won't be effective, until she recognizes and admits that she does have a erious problem and DOES need to change it. The son and daughter should be helpable, and could at least start counselling to handle their own problems in dealing with a selfishly stoned mother.
Contact, if there is a nearby branch, NA ( Narcotics Anonymous ) or some other local helpline, for advice on servics and support that may be available for the children.
I'm not clear why being committed or otherwise treated would automatically lead to her losing her pension, but there could be legal technizalities here, needing a legal opinion.
