Allergic Pekinese
My dog is 3 years old. She has always had problems with allergies, but no one could yet determine why.
Our vet has changed her diet, taken skin samples, etc. but nothing works.

She has severe itching - her ears, face and skin. The skin on her stomach goes completely red and sometimes bumps appear, like a rash. The only thing that brings temporary relief, is coritsone and I really don't want her to use it that often. A pill will sometimes just help for 1 night. She had 3 large cists removed about a year ago, but since then, smaller ones are coming our everywhere. Could this also be part of the allergy?

We have tried Science diet specially formulated for allergic dogs, but with no improvement. We apply tea trea oil on her skin and we've tried some homeopathic alternatives, but nothing seems to work. Is there anything I can do? Any new foods or medications? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, I would suggest you search the Cybervet archives and include keywords such as itch, dermatitis or hypoallergenic. You will find many of my previous replies specifically dealing with this type of problem. If it does not provide any answers, I suggest you request a referral from your veterinarian to a veterinary dermatologist or physician for assistance. Obviously, this patient needs more intense investigation or management.
