Border Collie with eczema
I have a Border Collie dog that is continually biting his skin on his body. To such an extent that it looks as if someone has taken an electric razor and shaved parts of his fur off. It seems to be a seasonal thing - perhaps he's allergic to grass, pollen etc...? Any ointment that we do try to put on simply gets licked off. Do you think he might need to go for cortizone shots to stop the itching.
Please search the Cybervet archives for previous messages on the same problem, using key words such as itch, dermatitis, hair, or hypoallergenic. You will find this problem has been discussed in depth before.
