Flea allergy
My fox terrier has an allergy to fleas. She pulls the hairs above her tail out and gets bumps/rash. Do you think I should put her on cortazone?
No, the most important thing is to eradicate all fleas. Even a single flea can cause this reaction, therefore complete flea control is essential. This can be readily achieved using very safe compounds available from your vet. Cortisone will indeed decrease the itch and the rash, and can be used in some cases two alleviate the itching, however the effect will be short-term, and flea control should be the most important consideration.
