Help - GSD with odd lumps on skin
Hi CyberVet, hope you can help me....

I have a very healthy 6 year old pure bred GSD who is very healthy, only thing he has every done is rip his paw open on the pool net catches!

I have noticed over the last month or two that he has little like growths (size of 20 - 50c piece upwards) on his body - about 5 or 6 in all. I can touch them and they dont seem sore but i am just worried as i havent noticed them before.

Also, Shadow swims every weekend at the beach (body surfs believe it or not!) and loves the water. The only problem is that he seems to get lots of water in his ears and it seems to cause him pain. What can i do about this? I cant take him to the vet for ear infections every week - and there is no way that he wont swim if there is any water around - he swims at home in the pool too...

Thanks
P

The nodules may be benign "older dog lumps" or worse. I would suggest that you have those that are there removed and sent away to the lab for a diagnosis. Often even benign lumps rupture and can become infected and a nuisance. You can get an ear cleaner for your vet or Vet Shop to keep the ars clean and then train your dog to tolerate earplugs. Initially you may use cottom wool to plug them but please remember to take it out after his swim.
