My puppy (7 weeks) bite me in the hand and his tooth tore my skin. I only began to bleed about 30 seconds after that. He hasn't had his injections yet. Will I have to go to the clinic to get an injection for this?

Hi Jacqui
The fact that your puppy has not had his vaccinations yet is not relevant unless he has rabies, which is very rare. I suggest you get him his first vaccination as soon as possible, as he should get it at 6 weeks. If you think your puppy has rabies then you must be treated for that as soon as possible by your docotr or clinic, as it is fatal. Tetanus is the more likely disease you could get from a dog bite, but most of us are innoculated agains this as children and are therefore immune to it. However if you are unsure, you can have an injection. I am forever getting nipped by puppies and, as I have had regular 5 yearly tetanus shots over the past 20 years, I don't even worry about it.
