B vitamins and apetite
Hi DietDoc,
Thank you so much for an interesting forum. Please tell me why the taking of B vitamins in general causes an increase in apetite?
Thanks

Dear Nicky
Thank you for your kind words. Most of the B vitamins function as cofactors in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, so if you ingest high amounts the metabolism of food would be speeded up and this could lead to stimulation of appetite. Appetite regulation is, however, a very complex process and not all individuals who take B vitamins will find that their appetites increase.
Best regards
