Baby Diet
My baby's 6 months old - weighs approx 7.5 - 8kgs. We introduced solids about 2 weeks ago - she's had butternut, rice cereal, gemsquash so far. There are food allergies from both mine and my husband's side (sunflower seeds and crustacea). Which foods should I avoid and until what age (dairy, meat, wheat, etc)

Dear Trudie
Your baby is already quite large for her age - the average weight for 6-month-old babies is 6 kg - so be careful that she does not gain too much weight at an early age as this can cause problems later on. It is difficult to predict if a child of allergic parents will manifest the same food allergies - she may or she may not react to the same foods as you and your husband, or she may react totally differently, e.g. to eggs or fish or peanuts. When you introduce a new food, give her a tiny quantity, such as 1/2 teaspoon and check how she reacts. If she shows any symptoms such as diarrhoea or rashes or post-nasal drip, then you should remove that food from her menu and only try it again at a later stage, once again in tiny quantities.
Best regards
