Banana Rye recipe
Hi Diet Doc
Thank you for a wonderful forum.
I came across this recipe and would like to please know if its healthy, acceptable on a weight loss diet as an occasional treat. I love rye bread and this looked like an interesting variation. Is it low GI?
Banana Rye Loaf
• 1 and a half cups rye flour
• Half a cup whole-wheat flour
• Half a teaspoon of salt
• Half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
• One teaspoon of baking powder
• Three bananas
• Two organic eggs
• Half a cup of honey
• Half a cup of skim milk
• A handful of crushed/roughly chopped almonds
A teaspoon or two of vanilla paste
Thank you.

Dear CP
Thank you for your kind words. This banana rye recipe sounds super and should not have an excessively high energy content. It is certainly low GI thanks to the rye flour, the added bananas, milk and almonds. Like all foods, you just need to make sure that you don't eat too much of the Banana Rye bread and also don't smother it in butter or margarine!
Enjoy
