Calorie Counter
Hi Doc,
The Calorie Counter under Diet Only gives a list of Limited Food Categories.
Is There a Address Or Web-Site that I may get a List of Food-Categories from the SA Food Tables.
Also To Calculate my BMR, given my Height,Weight, Age,Gender, What Formula does One Use?
Your help is Greatly Appreciated. This is for my Project.

Dear Mani
Phone the MRC in the Cape at: (021) 938-0911 and ask them if they have published the Food Table data on the Internet. The Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) or Resting Energy Expenditure (REE), are measured in a laboratory, not calculated. You can calculate your BMI (Basic Metabolic Index), using the formula:
weight in kg divided by height in metres squared, e.g. 80 kg/1.60 x 1.60 = 31,3.
A BMI of 18-25 is regarded as the normal range, while a BMI lower than 18, indicates underweight.
A BMI between 25 and 30 indicates overweight and above 30 it indicates obesity.
