Calorie Intake
Hi There

I am 27 years old (weight 63, height 1.63m) and need to shed 6kg's. I am giving myself about 3 months to lose this weight. What I would like to know is what should the calorie intake of a healthy female my age etc be and by how much should I reduce my calorie intake. I am fairly active - gym 4 days a week.

Your present BMI = 23,7, which is still within the normal range, but to achieve your ideal BMI of 22, you would have to weigh 59 kg, thus a loss of 4 kg. You are sensible to provide sufficient time to lose this weight, as rapid weight loss usually results in rapid re-gain of lost weight. According to the US standards women between 25 and 50 require 2200 kcal a day to maintain weight and about 1500 kcal a day to lose weight.
